1. Purpose
Next Level Tuition aims to provide Maths tuition that is safe, supportive and professional. This policy explains the arrangements used to help protect students, parents and the tutor during in-person and online tuition.
2. Scope
This policy applies to all tuition provided by Next Level Tuition, including:
- In-person KS4 group tuition in Swindon.
- Online group tuition for KS3 and Year 11 students.
- Limited online one-to-one tuition, normally best suited to KS5 students.
- Any related online resources, communications, trial sessions and enrolment activity.
3. Safeguarding commitment
Next Level Tuition takes safeguarding seriously and expects students, parents and the tutor to behave respectfully and appropriately at all times. Any concern about a child’s welfare will be treated seriously and acted on promptly.
- Liam Carney holds an Enhanced DBS check.
- Professional boundaries will be maintained with all students.
- Communication should normally take place with parents or guardians, not privately with students.
- Students should use appropriate language and behaviour in all sessions.
- Parents should inform Liam of any relevant needs, risks, medical information or safeguarding considerations that may affect tuition.
4. In-person group tuition
In-person tuition is delivered as small group tuition at agreed venues in Swindon. Students should be dropped off and collected by a responsible adult unless a different arrangement has been agreed with the parent or guardian.
Important one-to-one rule for in-person groups: If an in-person group session becomes a one-to-one session because other students are absent, a parent or guardian must remain present at the centre for the duration of the session. If a parent or guardian cannot remain present, the session will be cancelled or rearranged.
5. Online group tuition
Online sessions should take place in an appropriate learning environment. Students should be suitably dressed, use respectful language, and avoid sharing personal information in the online classroom.
- All online sessions will be recorded for safeguarding, quality assurance and review purposes.
- Recordings will be stored securely and only accessed where necessary.
- Students should not record, screenshot or share session content without permission.
- Parents should ensure students have an appropriate place to join online lessons.
6. Online one-to-one tuition
Online one-to-one tuition should take place with a parent or guardian present in the home and aware that the session is happening. The parent does not need to sit on screen for the whole lesson, but should be nearby and available if needed.
One-to-one online sessions will also be recorded for safeguarding and quality assurance.
7. Communication
Parents and guardians should use official channels such as email, Microsoft Bookings, Facebook business messages or other agreed parent-facing channels. Direct private messaging between Liam and a student should be avoided unless there is a clear educational reason and the parent or guardian is copied in or aware.
8. Concerns and reporting
If Liam has a safeguarding concern about a student, he will take appropriate action. This may include speaking to the parent or guardian, seeking safeguarding advice, contacting the student’s school, or contacting local safeguarding services or emergency services where necessary.
If a parent or student has a safeguarding concern about Next Level Tuition, they should contact Liam in the first instance unless it would be inappropriate to do so. In an emergency, or where a child may be at immediate risk, call 999.
9. Images, testimonials and marketing
Student names, images, testimonials and results will only be used for marketing where appropriate and permission has been obtained. Testimonials may be anonymised or first-name-only where suitable.
10. Review
This policy should be reviewed at least annually, or sooner if services change, safeguarding guidance changes, or a concern suggests the policy should be updated.
